Benefits of Kentucky Bluegrass
The softness of the blades and the feel of Kentucky Bluegrass make it wonderful for children to play, walk bare footed, lay and roll. Some grasses have a sharp blade that is very uncomfortable.
Kentucky bluegrass is the standard by which most other turf grasses are compared. It forms a beautiful lawn, fine texture, and good density are a hallmark of Kentucky Bluegrass.
One of the biggest advantages of Kentucky Bluegrass is its system of rhizomes, aggressive underground stems that spread and quickly repair damaged areas without you having to re-seed. Because they live underground protected from damage, the stems tolerate many types of stress. The rhizomes would remain alive, allowing new plants to emerge from below the soil surface.
The rhizomes also allow bluegrass months of drought. Consider just a few of the rolls that healthy grass plays in our well-being. Heat and noise reducer when the heat is on. Grass helps keep you cool. Street or sidewalk temperatures may reach 100 degrees farenheight or higher but the grass remains at a pleasant 75 degrees. The front lawn on a block of 8 houses could perform the same cooling word as 70 tons of air conditioning, enough to cool 25 homes.
Grass is also an oxygen producer. Grass plants remove carbon dioxide from the air and produce oxygen in return. Just 675 square feet of grass supplies all of the oxygen a person needs for one day.
